Are you sure it's Influenza? Think again.

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful.
Salam to all readers. Hope all of you are in the best of health. Syafakallah to those who are sick. may you get well soon. =)
Today i would llike to share with you about an illness which people usually mistaken it as an Influenza. But actually it is not. what is the illness? it is called Mycoplasma. have you heard of it? well, let me tell you more about it ok.
This was what i read yesterday in the newspaper about this illness.
Mycoplasma is a group of bacteria that can attacked human beings. there are 120 species of the bacteria, which three can cause diseases in humans. Common infections due to Mycoplasma are upper respiratory infection and pneumonia.
One of the consultant from the infectious disease said that school-going children and young adults are most susceptible.
Symptoms of Mycoplasma are non-specific. It includes headaches, malaise, fever, a scratchy sore throat and coughs, which can be mistaken for Influenza. In more serious cases, patients with Mycoplasma-induced pneumonia may experience chills, chest pain, nausea, vomitting and diarrhoea.
Mycoplasma infections are also frequently associated with a rash.
The condition can be spread by respiratory droplets during close contacts with a patient who has the symptoms. The bacteria can stay in a person's body for two or three weeks before causing illness. The symptoms may last between a week and a month on average and patients are infectious for up to several week.
A patient with mild respiratory tract infection caused by Mycoplasma may recover without antibiotic. But in some serious cases, antibiotics are required.
It is advised to infected patients to cover their mouths when they cough, wash their hands often and avoid sharing utensils to minimize the spread of the bacteria to family members or people in close contact with them.
Like the flu, people can suffer from Mycoplasma over and over again.
Therefore, take good care of your health and lead a healthy lifestyle, like a saying goes, prevention is better than cure. i hope that you get some knowledge about this illness. And i hope that the knowledge we've got, will become benefit to us. Insya Allah.
Til here,
W'salam. =)
